The Count Down is on for Starry Eyes 2006 (December 03, 2006)

The Starry Eyes 2006 Talent Show on Friday December 15th promises to be full of Christmas spirit and will be providing great family entertainment.  The Show will be hosted by a great comedian & entertainer 'Johnathon Cooper' and we have judges who are pros of the music and entertainment industry, including Rosetta Bain, the discoverer of Joss Stone & Sharon Smith organiser of the M Festival.  They will be joined on the judging panel by last year’s winners, Rhiannon Lambert, Sophia Medway, Nicola Chatfield and Asiya Kaplankiran, who will be giving their views on this year’s talent. To complete the V.I.P. line up will be The Mayor of Trowbridge, Councillor Tom James.

Everyone is very excited about the show and is looking forward to taking part and making this a great fun evening.

Don't forget if you come along you can vote for your favourite acts too and pick the winner of the audience choice trophy, so do come along and join in the festive fun.

Winners will receive a day in the Music Workshop recording studio with professional
recording artist Pete Lamb from Devizes as well as trophy’s and cash prizes from sponsors.

This year’s show will be brought to you in partnership with Imperial Charity for special needs of Warminster.

Imperial Charity is run by an unsung hero, Mr David McCance.  David devotes most of his time to Imperial Charity by organising variety shows for people with special needs, entertainment and trips for the older people of Warminster and Westbury and has also donated help to Ravenscroft Care home in Trowbridge on many occasions.

He also spends much of his time providing help and support for Starry Eyes, providing his time and services such as providing & driving the Mini Bus to take many young people to events to enable them to take part in talent contest and shows that are further a field.

He has put on the Wessex Show year after year to raise money for Imperial Charity and provide stages for our Starry Eyes performers, and to provide outstanding show days for the general public including air pageants.

He has given his support by travelling long distances to give Starry Eyes performers his support no matter how far they have had to go, for example, he went to Scotland to Support Rhiannon Lambert and Amy Griggs in the Festival 4 Stars National Final, which, we are very proud to say, was won by Rhiannon Lambert of Starry Eyes and with Amy Griggs of Starry Eyes as runner up. That’s what you call Supreme Wiltshire talent.

David has recently given his time and support to our youngest achiever, Lauren Medway, who has recently attracted the attention of Sony BMG and only a couple of weeks ago won 1st prize in a competition in Surrey, gaining the attention of another record company in London.

David has provided the printing of the tickets and the programs for Starry Eyes for the last 5 years which we are most grateful for.  This year David will be sponsoring the prize money and donating cups from the Imperial Charity for the Under 12’s category of the Competition.

David worked in the entertainment business during the late 50’s and early 60’s as a manager for the Mecca organisation along with Jimmy Savile, and working with many famous bands and organising talent shows.

There will be three categories in the competition this year under 12 years of age, 12 years & over, and 16 years and over.

Melksham Party in the Park Committee will be sponsoring the adult’s category which was won last year by Rhiannon Lambert from Melksham.  Rhiannon is also a previous Melksham Pop Idol winner. Rhiannon and all the other last year’s winners will be giving guest appearances and performing in the show.

Rosetta Bain has taken Lauren Medway & Rhiannon Lambert under her wing, and is currently looking after their interest, so Lauren, who is only 9 years old, decided to relinquish her place in the contest this year to make a guest appearance and be part of the shows entertainment instead.
