Starry Eyes Christmas Talent Show 15th December 2006 (November 02, 2006)

Starry Eyes will be hosting their annual Show at The Wesley Road Club in Trowbridge this year on Friday December 15th .

Due to a lack of funds, the usual luxuries’ are out of reach this year so Starry Eyes have decided to go back to basics rather than not have a show at all.

Starry Eyes have unfortunately suffered some very hard times during the year. They cannot claim from the National Lottery this year or some of the other organisations who have supported the group in previous years as the service that Starry Eyes provides free of charge to the community is considered an ongoing project and does no longerqualify for project grants, as we should be self funding, which is difficult as we don't charge and survive purely on donations. Also suffering a blow & a big loss when Stag Music went bankrupt, disappearing with the groups Ł3000 donation awarded by The District Council’s Community Safety Group. Other items were also lost that were in the shop waiting to be collected after being repaired.

Poor ol' Starry Eyes has really fell on hard times recently.

The Carnival Committee has also said they will not be supporting Starry Eyes this year with the prizes. So we are afraid we have had to go back to grass roots. Starry Eyes first Show was staged at the Longfield Community Centre in the year 2000.

This year however we have decided that the Wesley Road Club is an excellent venue to host a show it will accomodate many people and also provides good parking facilities. Wesley Road also benefits from a licensed bar, providing everything we need to put on a good night of entertainent, and of course they have very kindly accommodated us at a very good rate, which we are extremely grateful for.

Starry Eyes would like to ask people to enter for the Heats Now; all entries must be in by the 1^st December.
