The Nick Andrews Appeal (June 26, 2006)

The Nick Andrews Appeal http://www.thenickandrewsappeal.com/index.htm

Who is Nick Andrews?

Nick is a local man who has lived in Bromham for the last 20 years and he is married with three children. Six and a half years ago, at the age of just forty, Nick was diagnosed with Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis.

Nick Andrews

Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is the most common disabling neurological condition affecting young adults. Around 85,000 people in the UK have MS.

MS is the result of damage to myelin - a protective sheath surrounding nerve fibres of the central nervous system. When myelin is damaged, this interferes with messages between the brain and other parts of the body.

For some people, MS is characterised by periods of relapse and remission while for others it has a progressive pattern. For everyone, it makes life unpredictable.

The initial stem cell treatment is expected to cost £15,000. Even then booster treatments may be required. But it would be worth every single penny to have the possibility of seeing Nick walk unaided again!

We Need Your Help

We have a large family and circle of friends who I know will help us to achieve this, so we plan to organise lots of fund raising events that can be fun as well as profitable. One thing MS has taught us is to enjoy every moment of life!
We're kicking off the appeal with a 'Beer Race' around the village on September 9th 2006. Runners will have several beer stops along the way, finishing at The Greyhound pub, with live music and a BBQ.
We also plan to hold a Fete, Dances, indeed any thing to raise money.
