For the children, we have Mini Garden Competitions and fancy dress competitions, face painting and tattoos. For the adults we have raffles and a wine or water tombola. We have lots of stalls including an art and crafts stall with article made and pictures painted by the residents themselves. We also have a car-boot sale, refreshments, licensed bar, cream teas, candy floss and a BBQ.
We have live entertainment all afternoon which includes, Jill and Bernie Martin from Warminster who play accordion and banjo and will lead a sing –along, we will be entertained by ‘Angels with Attitude’ a Trowbridge Majorette group, plus some excellent singers from the Starry Eyes Foundation, young and old, including 11 years old Lauren Medway and her brother Joseph who is only 8 who were recently seen on the ITV show Britain’s Got Talent show. Lauren has just recently won the Southwest Regional ‘Live and Unsigned competition with her own composition and co-written song. The Residents were among the first to hear it before the competition up at the home where she regularly sings, as she has made good friends with many of the residents, and she valued their comments and Lauren wanted their opinions and feed back Another little girl who is popular with the residents is 7 years old Vicky Taylor from Melksham who also goes along with her mum and big sister to sing to the residents at every opportunity during the school holidays will be amongst the line up. Other artists include, Ian Jones, Amy Griggs, Nicola Chatfield, Christopher Tong, Mary Barnes, Jonene Taylor, Dawn Taylor, Sue Barnes, and Emily Barnes. We will also have the pleasure of one of our resident’s great, great, niece and nephew coming along to entertain by playing musical compositions on their violins
We are hoping the Mayor Cllr. John Knight will be opening our fete and judging the competitions. The miniature gardens can be made on a tray or something like that, and just left to the artistic imagination of the child. E.g. silver paper for ponds, or a fairy garden or a dinosaur land, what ever takes their fancy? Prizes will be given for each age group.
All’s we need now is good weather and people to make it the perfect day.
