Latest News & Reviews'Britains Got Talent' & so has 'Starry Eyes' (January 16, 2008)BRITAIN’S GOT TALENT - 15th January 2008 School children Lauren Medway age 11 and her younger brother Joseph age 8, have both been selected for the next round of Britain’s Got Talent. Lauren has been winning contest and talents shows up and down the Country for the last couple of years, the last being the competition organised by the Cadbury and Fry’s firm and held at The Fry Club in Bristol ‘Search for a Star’. However, Laurens little brother Joe was hot on her heels by gaining 4th place in that same competition. Joe has got a few wins of his own under his belt now too, and neither Joe nor Lauren are strangers to the stage after gaining a lot of confidence and experience through Trowbridge based Performance Company ‘The Starry Eyes Performance Foundation. Lauren and Joe have been waiting for the post preparing them selves for the worst since the last audition in the Cardiff Millennium Centre on the 5th December. They could not believe their luck when they were taken by surprise a phone call from the show organisers this evening, announcing that both Lauren and Joseph were through to the next round and would be on stage at The Millennium Centre in Cardiff next week. They will be experiencing a crowd of 1000 – 2000 people in the audience and facing Simon Cowell on the judges along with other celebrity judges who have not yet been named. The show will be presented by the famous duo TV presenters, Ant & Dec. “It’s just so exciting” said Lauren as they both jumped up and down squealing and cheering with joy as they tried to tell me. “We are going to sing in front of Simon Cowell” said Joe as they started bouncing around the room again in unison shouting and squealing “We can’t believe it!” Lauren and Joe are both quite well known around Wiltshire, as they have performed at many of the live events including ‘The West Wilts Show’ Rode Arts & Music Festival, Trowbridge Carnival Country Fayer, The Town Criers Competition held in Fore Street In Trowbridge, Frome Carnival Princess Competition, Melksham Pop Idol, Sutton Benger Music Extravaganza, Imperial Charity Variety Shows in Warminster along side Craig Douglas, star of the 60’s, also artist and comedians from the ITV ‘Stars In Your Eyes’ program. The Chippenham Alzheimer’s Charity Talent Show and the Mayor of Chippenham Ball. The Operation Christmas Child shoe box appeal, Save Trowbridge Hospital, Concerts for the late Cllr. Grace Hill helping her fund raise for the Tsunami Appeal, and a concert at the Wesley Road Church for the ‘Give Water Save A Life’ appeal, The Mayors Civic Service, The Town Gathering and the Shooting Stars Show in Southwick, run by their mother Rachael & Carolynn Purnell. Plus many Fetes, Fun days, schools, and Children In Need events. They have appeared in productions such as Oliver in Trowbridge Civic Hall, and Warminster’s Lime Lights production of The Railway children, where Joseph had a main part as Peter, one of the Railway Children and The King and I at Frome. Also Lauren won a singing competition for Radio Wiltshire and starred on a radio program on Christmas Eve 2006 with presenter Sandy Martin. Lauren has also won competitions at Surrey, Weymouth, Bournemouth, Cornwall, Birmingham and many more. Lauren has recently been approached about doing a summer season at a venue on Bournemouth Pier. Lauren and Joe have made many friends locally and are regular entertainers at Ravenscroft Care Home, which Lauren once described in a radio interview as a very special place and one of her favourite places to sing as she loves making people happy. Lauren and Joe would like as many people to come to the show as can make it to give them their support and to cheer them on.
