winner of Starry Eyes in 2001 has Died at the tender age of 29 October
2009.
It was a pleasure to know Jermaine and have him perform in our show.

You deserve it Val, you have dedicated so much time, patience and energy to so many people, the young and not so young, over the years helping them to achieve their dreams and reach their goals. Not to mention the Charities and organisations that we have supported, when you have had to spend all day, sometimes days, sat in the cold, winds, rain, the hot sun, all kinds of weather to provide the sound system and music for the entertainment. The workshops will run once a fortnight for the time being, as the Starry Eyes group are rather cash strapped at the moment, but we are doing our best to keep going. And as for winners and losers, there are no losers in Starry Eyes, you are all winners and should all be very proud of your achievements, as I am proud of all of you. I have seen so much progress from all of you in your own ways, and I have seen most of you perform to and delight an audience. Thats what performing is all about. If you enjoy entertaining, and your audience enjoys you entertaining, then you are succeeding, and succeeding means, winning, plus you're doing something you enjoy doing. Now that can't be bad! Winning is really not that important. Its knowing you have taken part and done your best. Its a personal acheivement when you know you have performed the best you can, winning really doesn't mean anything. You win some, and you loose some but you need to keep confidence in yourself and be prepared to try again. As long as you believe in yourself and your talents nothing else should matter. I would personally congradulate anyone who has put their heart and soul into a performance whether they won or not and they should feel proud of themselves!!! |

We all wish Rhiannon luck for her grade 6 exam too, Im sure she doesn't need luck though, as she is brilliant. There are several Starry Eyes Members just going to take their exams or have just taken them, and I wish everyone the best of luck, I know how nerve racking exams can be. If i offended anyone with my review on the 'Starry Eyes' web sit then i can only apologise. I thought that the George Ward Talent show was fantastic and ALL the competitors did really really well and if i had been writing a review for the local paper then i would have commented about all the entrants but i was doing a reveiw for Starry Eyes, which my daughter, Nicola and Rhiannon are all members, then i only worte about them. Yes, i am biased about my daughter and if you have any children then you would be the same. Any parent would. I do write about other people aswell and i give them all the credit that they deserve. All Starry Eyes performers are fantastic. I am not a professional writer and as to the August 1st review, that was my very first one i had written. I can't comment on the whole show as I wasn't there. I have put up a review sent to me by Laura's proud mum. I know both Nicola's and Rhiannons parents too, and would be delighted to put their comments of how the evening was for them. Nicola and Rhiannon both know that I hold the highest respect for their talent as do everyone at ‘Starry Eyes’ and would be only to glad put up a report for them. As far as being biased to any one with connections to ‘Starry Eyes’, then, yes, you are absolutely right. We spend much time with these people, rehearsing, coaching, and putting on events and helping them gain as much experience as possible to help them to keep improving. If they do well in other things then it's only right that we provide them the opportunity to boast about it. That's what we're here for, to reward them for their efforts and to emphasise that they are achieving and moving forward. Also, the door is open for anyone who wants to be part of ‘Starry Eyes’ and we give our time free of charge to help all performers. As far as the whole event went if you would like to send me a positive review of the whole thing then I would love to put it on the news page. I wouldn't print anything negative about anybody. Would you like me to publish the message of your feeling's on the web? I am happy to print if you want me to, or I will wait until you send me your review. I'm sure everyone who took part deserves a mention. Unfortunately we do not know everyone who took part, only the members of ‘Starry Eyes’, and this after all is The ‘Starry Eyes’ Web Site so obviously we review and support ‘Starry Eyes’ performers. I am very sorry if any of the reviews has caused offence to anyone, and Laura's mum is trying hard not to be biased to Laura when she writes reviews, but as a proud mum it's hard not to be, and on this occasion Laura did win her section so she deserved it. As a member of the George Ward School i would like to say a big well done to the entrants who took part especially the primary school students who had 2 sing and play to a bunch of grown ups.(not an easy task!!!) the review of the night was at sub-standard. even though Nichola Chatfield and Rhiannon Lambert did not win in there section i think that they should of a least had a report about their performances. as most of the review is based around the Key stage 2 winner Laura Lewis. she did put on a good show and the audience did enjoy it but i believe that as going to watch the starry eyes talent show and audtions these two young performers (rhiannon and nichola) put on a exeptional show properbly the best they have done. another example of the sub-standard of the reviews written the review on the audtions taken on the 1st August. the review stated that performer Laura Lewis "brought tears to the audiences eyes" and yet again Miss Lambert got "she was superb". i would like to also point out that miss Lambert did qualify for the finals and Miss Lewis did not. im speaking on behalf of several people who feel that reviews and reports are biased towards the performers who have contacts and not on the talent of the performance. thank you for your time. |
